Social Bridge Online/Bridge with Friends Seeks Editor

Social Bridge Online / Bridge with Friends LogoThe ACBL Educational Foundation is looking to hire an Editor, on a part-time contract basis, for its Social Bridge Online website.

The Social Bridge Online/Bridge with Friends website was launched this Fall in collaboration with Trickster Cards. On the Social Bridge Online site, visitors will find short informative videos providing instructions for playing, scheduling or hosting a game, before linking into Trickster games. More than 2,000 players have expressed an interest in keeping in touch with us as we grow.

The longer-term goal is to use the site to build community among social bridge players by creating content and services of interest to that significant segment of the bridge-playing community. (A survey by the Foundation showed that there are more than 10 million bridge players in the U.S., with fewer than two percent belonging to the American Contract Bridge League.)

The ideal candidate will be a person whose primary bridge interest is in social bridge, or with a strong history of playing social bridge. Website editing and writing experience is essential.

The editor will be responsible for populating the website with content of interest to social bridge players, working with an editorial advisory board, and reporting to the executive director of the Foundation. The primary metric of success will be increasing repeat traffic to the website.

The position will pay $500 a month.

The ACBLEF became an independent foundation in 2017, but often partners with both ACBL and the American Bridge Teachers Association to provide grants that promote teaching bridge and continuance of the game itself to attract new players. Through its programming, it supports duplicate, casual, and stepping-stone game-playing for all age groups and all walks of life.
